A Memorial to God
Isaiah 55

God, through Isaiah’s prophecy, calls out to all human beings in the language of the marketplace. This invitation is for everybody.

Only what God is offering can satisfy.

God gave us David as our example. Even though David’s sin was great, God blessed the world through one of his descendants because of his relationship with God.

Who is the nation that did not know Israel? Every other nation, the Gentiles, us.

Seek the Lord while you can! Repent and receive mercy and compassion!

God’s thoughts are better than our thoughts. What are God’s plans?

This invitation is not just for salvation. It is for our ongoing relationship with our loving Heavenly Father.

All people have challenges! What is God’s solution for your problems!

Everything God puts in motion fulfills His purposes!

Whatever is accomplished is both celebration and a memorial to God forever!

Luke-The Investigative Gospel
Three Dangers with Reference to the Second Coming
Luke 17:20-27

“So what is a balanced Christian approach to the concern about the end times?”

1. Don’t Try to Make the Second Coming Fit your Preconceived Ideas and Expectations.

Over the last two thousand years lots of men have played neat little mathematical games with Bible prophecies in an effort to determine the exact date of the Lord’s return.

Jesus is saying, “Don’t look around you for the kingdom of God out there somewhere unless it is first of all in your own heart.”

2. Don’t Be Obsessed by End Times Thought and Study.

Jesus now turned to his disciples and instructed them not to become so obsessed with His return that they ended up doing nothing else except trying to track down the time of His return.

3. Don’t Allow Worldly Concerns To Dim Your Desire For the Lord’s Return.

The point is that when we live our lives for the things of the world, we lose the life that God intended us to live.

But what Jesus reveals is not intended for us to develop a chart, but for us to prepare our hearts.

I don’t know that it is too much different today for there are many professed Christians today who would see the Lord’s return as a terrible interruption to their plans.

The point of verses 34-36 seem to be that No matter how close two people are, either emotionally or physically, they may be separated by the judgment.

Jesus is coming again, make no mistake about it, and whether you believe it or not, or you’re ready or not, He Is Coming!

Luke-The Investigative Gospel
Learning To Be Thankful
Luke 17:11-19

From these ten lepers we can learn some valuable lessons about being thankful.

1. We learn to be thankful when…we think about the fact of how desperate our situation is before we met Jesus.

They were thought to be unclean, and incapable of having a right relationship with God.

2. We learn to be thankful when…we think about the fact of what we have gained.

By obediently making their way to the priest, the lepers were demonstrating that they had faith in the words of Jesus.

3. We learn to be thankful when…we think about the fact that what was done for us could not have been done by us.

This one leper was different than the others. He did three things; he turned back, he began praising God and he fell on his face at the feet of Jesus thanking him.

The more you train yourself to be one who praises, the less mistakes you’re going to make and the less regrets you’re going to have.

4. We Learn To Be Thankful When…We Think About How Much Our Ingratitude Grieves The Heart Of God

There should not be any doubt that when we are not thankful, it grieves the Lord.

While all ten lepers had received physical healing, only this Samaritan had the faith for spiritual healing as well.
