But God…
But God Meant It For Good
Genesis 50:20, Genesis 50:15-21

The fact is, God is involved in every aspect of human activity, and throughout all of human history and throughout all of time.

However, all things are in the hands of God who can turn the bad around into good.

A bad situation, or a undesirable set of circumstances are not always a bad thing when you are in the hands of God.

He understood, as few do, that the events that happened to him, as terrible as they were, that God’s hand had been in it all the time.

If we were hidden from the consequences to sin, we would live in illusionary world, we would have the mistaken impression that we were fine with God and there would be no remorse or repentance.

We all have learned by experience, and some experiences have been painful, but when we look back on it all, we can clearly see the hand of God at work in our lives, building Christian maturity, sensitivity, patience, and hope.

Some of us will suffer precisely because we are a Christian.

For many things, we may not understand this side of Glory, but we know all things rest in His hands, including all of us who truly belong to Him.

The Unhindered Good News
Acts 28:17-31

This morning, we are going to conclude our series Heading toward Pentecost.

From this point, the good news about Jesus Christ can literally be spread to the entire world, just as Jesus had promised it would back at the beginning of the book of Acts.

As a matter of fact, I think Luke ended just the way he intended, with a word to challenge Christians of all centuries to continue to spread the good news about Jesus Christ.

The same Spirit that lived inside Paul lives inside you and me.

Life really isn’t much like Hollywood portrays it.

But in order to become God’s church in this place, we have to have the good news about Jesus as our very lifeblood.

This morning I want to challenge every one of us to recognize that God can move in our culture like that again.

As a church we have to be completely resolved to know and understand and communicate that everybody needs a Savior.

We all need to be involved in more than just showing up on Sunday morning.

Our job is to walk in his path and to be about the task of helping others find their way to the path also.

Heading Toward Pentecost
The Unstoppable Church
Acts 1:1-11, Ephesians 3:16-21

It has been said that the fundamental crisis of the first century church was how to deal with the departure of her leader.

Somebody said that these first verses of Acts are kind of like the time between lightning and thunder.

The Holy Spirit, Jesus said, would guide the church into all truth, would provide direction for the work that Jesus wanted done.

I have noticed that we Christians are some of the best excuse makers in the world when it comes to not witnessing.

We don’t experience the power of God in our lives because we are afraid of where He might lead us.

God is in charge of history. History is his story, and He determines the course of it.

The choice is yours and it is mine. Will we follow His direction? Will we accept His power? Will we live our lives motivated by hope?
